When loading fuel or other flammable hydrocarbons into fuel transport vehicles, it is imperative that freight vehicles and wagons be grounded to dissipate electrostatic charges and to prevent the possibility of sparks from accidental electrostatic discharge, which can lead to an explosion.
The new ground monitoring device EKX-4 is designed to monitor the ground contact of an object during loading of fuel into tank trucks, rail tanks, containers or transportable metal containers. Safe refueling is only guaranteed if the electrical resistance of the facility ground contact is sufficiently low. In case of correct grounding, the signal lamp lights up and the free output contact closes, which switches on the executive relay. If the ground contact is interrupted, the device immediately switches back to protection mode.
The earth monitor has been tested and approved in accordance with the latest European Explosion Prevention Directive 94/9/E.C. (ATEX 95) for operations in zone 1 hazardous environments
